Again 7.3 magnitude quake, in Nepal 再びの地震ネパール
DOLAKHA, MAY 14 - The number of deaths in Dolakha , the district hardest hit by Tuesday’s 7.3 magnitude quake, has climbed to 61.
According to security personnel from Nepal Police and Nepal Army involved in rescue operations, 206 have sustained injuries and 103 of them have been airlifted to the Capital for further treatment.
A day after the quake, the rescue teams retrieved the body of Araniko Development Bank manager from the rubble of the collapsed building in Charikot, the district headquarters of Dolakha . More bodies were pulled out of the debris of Hotel Paradise.
On a positive note, rescue operations were carried out swiftly in a number of VDCs in the district, saving countless lives in the process as the personnel deployed in the region for rescue operations since April 25 quake were on the ground when another tragedy struck on Tuesday.
According to local Arun Khadka, 24, of Chilankha-8, the quake has leveled Singati VDC while vehicular movement to the VDC has been halted due to landslides triggered by the quake.
Khadka, who was forced to abandon his trip to Charikot halfway through due to the quake, said that two dozers which were carrying out the construction works on the road had been buried while an excavator driver had been missing. He said a truck with a registration Ba 2 Kha 8262, heading to Singati laden with relief materials along with 35 people, had also been buried in the landslide. He said that he could hear the cries of those buried for help but had been unable to do anything on his own. The death toll from Saturday's deadly 7.9 magnitude quake that struck with its epicenter at Gorkha district has reached more than 2500 as of Sunday evening.
According to information provided by Nepal Police at 6 pm today, 777 have lost their lives in Kathmandu alone. Likewise, 224 in Bhaktapur and 151 in Lalitpur died in the catastrophe.
The Central region is the worst hit with 1,017 deaths followed by Western Region with 209. Fifty lives were lost in Eastern region while two deaths have been reported in Mid Western. No quake-related deaths have been reported in Far Western region.
The worst hit regions after Kathmandu Valley include Sindhupalchowk, Rasuwa, Dolakha, Dhading, Gorkha, among other districts where hundreds lost their lives in the tremor.
In Kathmandu, old settlement areas such as Basantapur, Thamel, Nardevi, and Jhochhen have suffered major damages. Historical monuments such as Dharhara, Basantapur Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square have also been completely destroyed.
Government declared national crisis in the wake of disaster and established a fund of Rs. 500 million for the reconstruction of the damaged infrastructures across the country.

Seventeen people were killed and 61 injured in an avalanche triggered by Saturday's destructive earthquake at Mount Everest base camp in Solukhumbu district, officials said.
Security personnel have initiated rescue operation and six helicopters have been dispatched for the same.
Director General of Tourism Department, Tulsi Prasad Sitaula, have confirmed the deaths of 17 people in the avalance and said the death toll could rise. But the weather condition has been gradually improving.

The death toll from Saturday's deadly 7.9 magnitude quake that struck with its epicenter at Gorkha district has reached 2152 as of 2:15 on Sunday afternoon.
According to Nepal Police spokesperson Kamal Singh Bam, the number of quake injured people undergoing treatment after have reached 4743.
Old settlement areas such as Basantapur, Thamel, Nardevi, and Jhochhen, among other places in the Capital have suffered major damages. Historical monuments such as Dharhara and Basantapur Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square have been completely detroyed.
In the wake of the disaster, government has declared national crisis and established a fund of Rs. 500 million for the reconstruction of the damaged infrastructures.
The shake was also felt in neighbourig countries including India and Bhutan.
